The Pet Sitter Compendium

Eric

Introduction

Welcome to the Pet Sitter Compendium! My name is Eric Ewald and I was a full-time pet sitter in Cary, North Carolina from 2011 through 2021. Whether you are a pet owner, looking for a sitter, or are thinking about making a living as a pet sitter, this blog is for you. I mostly worked with dogs and was set up for dog walking, doggie day camp, or taking dogs for dog park visits. I also have experience caring for cats and other pets in clients’ homes when they are away. Thank you for visiting!

Several of my goals have collided during this past decade, and one of them has been to finally begin a web log. I’ve been writing as a hobby for some time and after surmounting an inordinate number of myths about small business management and administering frequently asked questions (FAQs) about dogs and dog parks, I knew it was time to share the particulars.

A compendium is a collection of concise but detailed information about a particular subject. I’ll be posting answers to pet sitting FAQs, along with tips and tricks for dog owners, dog walkers, or anyone wishing to know more about small businesses, websites, or blogs. My pledge is to offer information with an optimal blend of vigilance, candor, and enthusiasm.

To be clear, I operated as a single member LLC, and did not grow beyond that. This is not a “six figure pet sitter” blog since that wasn’t the vision I had for my enterprise. I was, however, successful in terms of client trust, satisfaction, and demand. Finally achieving a positive work/life balance became a first for me, which completely belied the grounding of a 20-year stint as an environmental engineer. So, without further ado, leave your fields to flower and enjoy my loquacious, albeit functional musings.
