A pet sitter’s photo gallery

A picture is worth a thousand words. The featured photo is a rare shot of Duncan in repose. Twelve hours of maniacal outrageousness wears this little lunatic out every time. I wouldn’t say the following photos are the “best” of Eric’s Pet Sitting, but they are certainly among the top 3,000.

Rueben enjoying a boot

Rueben the Weimaraner. He was a hoot, and his ears were bigger than he was!

Snow!

Remy is named for Gambit (Remy Etienne LeBeau), a fictional character in the world of Marvel Comics. Commonly in association with the X-Men, the mutant Gambit has the ability to mentally create, control, and manipulate pure kinetic energy to his desire. Just like Remy.

Cookie monsters

Cooper, Genevieve, and Riggins anticipating a treat. This occurred during one of many “indoor dog park” days at Jeep John’s house. We met there when it was too rainy to go to the park. Highlights include Nitro stealing an entire loaf of bread off the kitchen counter, and Remy peeing on the Christmas tree.

Ollie Ollie Ollie get your adverbs here

Ollie napping with his buddy, Bear. Ollie is a Bichon Frise, a distinct type of toy dog dating to at least the 11th century. Ollie’s ancestors were relatively common in 14th-century France, where they were kept as pets of the royalty and aristocracy. The name “bichon” is a contraction of “barbichon,” which means “little barbet,” which is a large-headed, brightly colored fruit-eating bird that has a stout bill with tufts of bristles.

Squirrel!

Millie striking a majestic pose at the Godbold Dog Park. Sometimes known as Millicent, or Milbert, Millie is a good dog. She’s a little crazy, but who isn’t.

Where’d that ball go??

Ruxon looking very happy at the dog park.

I am ze locksmith of love, no?

Nitro making the moves on Jade, a Blue Great Dane.

A little loopy

Rex leaving the vet after an intoxicating dental cleaning event.

Their first swim

Greta and Nitro IN Lake Crabtree, and very happy about it.

Meet and greet

Rex, Duncan, Callie, Genevieve, and Rhaena on the back patio.

She has no idea I just pooped in the guest room

Nitro visiting my aunt Lise (pronounced Lee-ZUH) in Vermont during the Thanksgiving holiday in 2009. Good gracious that seems like it was just yesterday.

    Eric,
I remember you and Nitro well from the dog park in those early days. I was there a lot in 2009 and 2010 with my white pit mix, Stanley. He played a lot with George’s Petunia! I have just finished reading your book and enjoyed every page. You are very gifted! I will pass it on to English Melanie, who I’m sure will enjoy as much as I did. She literally just lost Doodle about a week ago. I lost Stanley in January 2023. He was “my Nitro”.

    1. I remember Stanley! Those were the days. I have seen Melanie and Doodle in recent years. Although she may have brought Lucy only. . but thanks for passing it on!
